Just a short drive from the Bayonne Bridge, lies the Cape Liberty Terminal in Bayonne, NJ. This is the home port for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. We had an opportunity to tour the newly revitalized, otherwise known as “Solsticized”, Celebrity Summit which was about to embark for a 7 night sailing to Bermuda.
Holding just over 2,000 passengers, this ship now includes the addition of AquaClass® staterooms and the popular restaurant, Blu, exclusively for AquaClass guests.
Our tour started with the elegant and tasteful suites. All suites get preferential seating at the shows and all suites come with European style butler service.
All cabins are nicely sized and I would think would be quite comfortable.
The amenities on this ship are visually striking and and will be sure to fit every cruisers whim.
Celebrity is the first authorized Apple reseller at sea. Innovations Store have all of your Apple electronics and devices and best of all it is duty free. Celebrity iLounge is the ships 24 hour connection internet lounge and also offers various iLearn classes to help you master the latest photography, video and audio skills. A place you will find me for sure.
Upon finishing our tour, we had the opportunity to eat at the summit’s main dining room. Every course in our four course meal was unique and delicious. In addition to early and late seating, Celebrity also offers select dining where you can either make a reservation for the night or just arrive and wait to be seated. What I like about this feature is that select dining guests are reserved for the second floor dining room while the early and late diners eat on the first floor.
Celebrity Summit has 2 specialty dining restaurants that cost an additional cover charge. The Normandie is the ship’s most formal restaurant. It’s style is a tribute to the Normandie Oceanliner where you can have raw lobster cooked tabelside. Qsine is their unordinary approach to dining. It’s whimsical setting fits into its whimsical menu where you can sample sushi lollipops and disco shrimp. The menus and wine list is also displayed on a iPad.
As always it is hard to walk off the ship knowing cruisers will remain and sail away for a week of relaxation, fun and memories. I look forward to sail this ship and highly recommend it if you are looking for a wonderful cruise to Bermuda, Canada or the Caribbean
Sailing off,
Angela
