Day 3 aboard the Disney Disney Dream brought us to Disney’s own private island Castaway Cay. Castaway Cay is a wonderful little island with lots of activities to do. You can rent bikes, swin the sting rays, snorkel, parasailing and so much more. It has an adult only beach as well as the family friendly beach which has a fun slide off the coast called Pelican Plunge. During the day they offer a BBQ at two locations which has a nice variety of food and dessert. And just like on the ship, you have unlimited offers of ice cream and beverages including soft drinks like coke, sprite etc.
When we got back on the ship, we went to the Jedi Training Trials of the Temple show which Disney picks 6 children to participate. They go onstage to become a Jedi and fight with Darth Vader. It’s a cute show but this is where my only complaint with Disney would be. There were about 50 kids who wanted to participate in being a Jedi against Darth Vader. Lots of little hearts were broken as they were randomly not picked. I would suggest Disney either puts on more performances to give more children the opportunity to do it, or don’t do it at all.
We selected this night to watch one of our favorite movies, Star Wars the Force Awakens. This night they were showing the movie in 3D. Another wonderful aspect of Disney cruises are the first run movies you can watch for free onboard.
This was also Pirate night. Every stateroom comes with bandannas to wear to dinner. Being we knew about the theme night, we brought “costumes” so we can dress up and join in on the fun with so many others. All of the characters were in their Pirate costumes and dinner was served in the Caribbean theme. After dinner we went on deck where the Disney characters and performers put on some swashbuckling shows and ended with a fabulous fireworks show. Disney is the only cruise line to have fireworks aboard their cruise ship.
