Is Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas Worth It in 2026? My Honest Review After Sailing

Thinking about booking Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas but wondering if an older ship is still worth sailing?

With Royal Caribbean launching bigger and more feature-packed ships every year, it’s easy to overlook Radiance of the Seas. After all, it doesn’t have the FlowRider, ice skating rink, zip line, or sprawling Royal Promenade that many cruisers associate with the brand.

So why do so many cruisers continue to book her?

After sailing aboard Radiance of the Seas, I came away genuinely surprised—and not for the reasons I expected.

In this video, I share my honest review of Radiance of the Seas, what impressed me, what disappointed me, who I think this ship is best suited for, and whether I’d sail her again in 2026.

⚠️ Radiance of the Seas Isn’t the Royal Caribbean You May Be Expecting

When people think of Royal Caribbean, they usually picture:

  • FlowRider surf simulators
  • Ice skating shows
  • Zip lines
  • Massive neighborhoods
  • Endless attractions

Radiance of the Seas offers a very different experience.

Rather than trying to compete with Royal Caribbean’s newest mega ships, Radiance focuses on something many cruisers are beginning to appreciate again: classic cruising.

You’ll find:

✔️ Incredible ocean views

✔️ A relaxed atmosphere

✔️ Elegant public spaces

✔️ Easier navigation

✔️ Less crowded venues

For many travelers, those features are actually more valuable than another waterslide or thrill attraction.

🌅 What Surprised Me Most About Radiance of the Seas

There were several things I didn’t expect before stepping onboard.

One of the biggest surprises was how much the ship’s design influences the overall experience.

Instead of a Royal Promenade, Radiance centers around the beautiful multi-story Centrum, creating a more intimate atmosphere throughout the ship.

I also discovered several features I wasn’t expecting, including one venue that instantly became one of my favorite places onboard.

Rather than spoil all of those surprises here, I show them throughout the video so you can see exactly what they’re like before your cruise.

🍽️ Dining, Entertainment & Ship Design

Radiance may be smaller than Royal Caribbean’s newer ships, but that doesn’t mean it lacks great dining or entertainment.

In the video, I share my experience with:

  • Complimentary dining venues
  • Park Café and its unique setup
  • Chops Grille
  • Samba Grill (one of the rarest restaurants in Royal Caribbean’s fleet)
  • Indoor and outdoor entertainment
  • The Colony Club
  • The adults-only Solarium
  • The ship’s surprising movie theater

These were some of the biggest highlights of my sailing.

🛏️ What Are the Cabins Like?

One of the questions I hear most often is:

“Are Radiance of the Seas cabins outdated?”

The answer isn’t quite that simple.

While you can certainly tell you’re sailing on an older ship, I found my balcony cabin comfortable, functional, and well maintained.

There are a few things prospective cruisers should know before booking, especially if you’re used to Royal Caribbean’s newer ships.

I discuss those details—and one bathroom feature that wasn’t my favorite—in the video.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Who Should Sail Radiance of the Seas?

This was probably the biggest surprise of my entire cruise.

Before sailing, I assumed Radiance would mainly attract older cruisers.

Instead, I saw a healthy mix of couples, families, younger adults, teens, and experienced cruisers enjoying the ship.

In my opinion, Radiance is an excellent choice for travelers who:

  • Prefer a quieter, more relaxed vacation
  • Enjoy scenic cruising and ocean views
  • Don’t need every onboard attraction
  • Appreciate classic cruise ship design
  • Want a ship that’s easy to navigate
  • Are looking for excellent value

However, if your vacation revolves around water slides, surf simulators, ice skating, and high-energy attractions, another Royal Caribbean ship may be a better fit.

I explain exactly why in the video.

💰 Is Radiance of the Seas a Good Value?

One of Radiance’s biggest advantages may be its pricing.

Because she doesn’t offer all of the attractions found on newer ships, fares are often significantly lower than Royal Caribbean’s larger vessels.

For many cruisers, that trade-off is worth it.

You’ll often enjoy:

  • Lower cruise fares
  • Beautiful ocean views
  • A more relaxed atmosphere
  • Convenient itineraries, including year-round sailings from Tampa

If you’re looking for value over flashy attractions, Radiance deserves serious consideration.
